It’s hard to believe it is winter when you are walking around in t-shirt and shorts. We did the Whangamumu Track this week – what a great little walk over the hill to the Whaling Station and the beach. The colour of the water was incredible and as with many of the area’s wonderful walks, there was barely another person in sight.
Along one section of the track, we did meet a couple from overseas who had been travelling around the world for over a year. New Zealand had been their last stop and from all of the countries they had visited, their favourite. They were impressed by the friendly people, the climate and the natural beauty of the entire country.
Winter can be a great time to explore the Bay of Islands with fewer people and still so much to do and enjoy. Locals may have more time to share with visitors and for independent travellers, there can be greater flexibility with bookings for accommodation, activities and restaurants.
For property investors winter can be a good time to keep an eye, with less competition and distraction.
Whatever your reason for visiting the bay, you’ll find news and events online at Northland including festivals, arts, music and walking weekends. If you are looking for luxury accommodation, feel free to call me or here are some websites which may assist:
