Bare foot or boots, the Bay of Islands Walking Weekend is not to be missed.

With a great selection of walks for all abilities, it makes for a fun and healthy weekend for individuals or groups.  What a great way to see the Bay of Islands and experience the fresh air, fine food and friendly people of this stunning region.

It is recommended you pre-book your walks early as all walks only have 15 to 20 walkers on them – Bookings and information can be found at the Bay of Islands Walking Weekend website as pictured below, courtesy of Shoot North videography, photography and website services: Visit boiwalkingweekend.co.nz.

Whether you want to test your endurance or take in a night walk in search of kiwi, there will be local guides available to answer questions and share their passion for the flora, fauna, history and culture. The weekend also presents an opportunity to access walks that may be on private land.

When you walk up an appetite, don’t miss the food markets, cafes and restaurants throughout the Bay of Islands. If you need any added incentive, the region is also home to some great day spas and therapists.

The New Zealand Herald has featured the Bay of Islands this weekend and is offering the chance to win two trips to the Bay of Islands, including one for the Walking Weekend.  To enter, visit winwitheraldonsunday.co.nz and enter the key words Trip one or Trip two, depending on which prize you favour, along with your contact details. Entries for both close 11.59pm on Wednesday, August 27.
