Screen Shot 2014-11-04 at 10.23.31 AMExciting plans have been announced for the Bay of Islands airport.

The proposed venture will see a switch to the 50-seat Bombardier Dash 8 Q300 and the phasing out of flights with the 19-seat Beechcraft 1900D aircraft by February. The larger aircraft will boost the capacity of 60,000 passengers a year by 20 per cent.*

Such multimillion-dollar investment in infrastructure offers a great boost for tourism and local residents.

Flying into Auckland and transferring to the tiny plane for the final leg home may soon just be a memory, albeit a really nice one.
There is something special about flying over the Bay of Islands and landing amid the farmland of Kerikeri. Now, even more people will share that experience and the friendly welcome to this fabulous region.
