Winter is a great time to escape to the Bay of Islands. There are so many indoor and outdoor activities to enjoy, year-round. Of course there is the option to simply find a quiet place in the sun….
Many of the region’s luxury providers advertise seasonal offers. Winter can be a great time to sample luxurious accommodation at Kauri Cliffs, Eagles Nest, or a selection of private rental properties across Northland. Enjoy a round of golf followed by fireside dining at the Duke; charter a yacht or join the boats that head out to spot dolphins and whales in the Bay. Stock up at the Farmers Market or let someone else do the cooking and book a table at one of the many great cafes and restaurants in the Bay of Islands.
Upcoming events include The Russell Birdman Festival on 14-17th July and Bay of Islands Jazz & Blues 12-14th August. It is the ten year anniversary of the very popular ‘Birdman’ so bookings for accommodation and activities are highly recommended.
I also recommend you book ahead if you wish to view property. The halo effect from Auckland is certainly casting a glow over the Northland property market. In turn, this is spurring locals who are looking to upgrade or invest. It’s great to see that activity throughout the region with sold signs, new projects, building and renovations taking place.
